Obama or McCain - Yes We Will

Senator Obama is our next President.  I am upset that Senator McCain did not win as I believe he should be our next President.  I am truly saddened.

Looking forward however, I am exciting for our future.  I believe Senator Obama will mature into the role of Commander in Chief and do the best he can.  His motto Yes we can is a little annoying, but I appreciate how he is trying to connect the whole country together.

As a citizen of this great country, I will support our President in leading our country.  I am disappointed, but I still love this great nation and have more than hope for our future.  Yes We Will is my motto.

As election day approaches, I have searched for more information.  I don't think it is right that people can vote before election day.  If we are going to allow multiple day voting, it should be after campaigning ceases.  Allowing early voting to the extent I see it, is like asking vor verdict before closing arguments.

Another thing that has really angered me is the request from Senator Obama for people to take a day off form work or not going to class...tell your professor.  I am sorry, but my kids' education and working at my job are more important than a campaign.  My work and my kids education matter along with the millions of other hard working citizens and residents.  This is what makes America strong.  Think about what is being asked for...and multiply it by hundreds of million. ..ask what you can do for me...is what I am sadly hearing and this is not what I thought I was hearing before.

I found this article from I think the Washington Post which also is helping me put this in perspective

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/10/neither_candidate_an_economic.html

In closing, I ask you to please vote and all I can say is I have wavered back and forth.  I am thinking I have made my final decision...Senator McCain.

Updated

I watched the 30 minute Barack Obama show and was actually put off by it.  I cannot believe the media complained about Palin's spending on her clothes and Senator Obama goes and spends millions for this 30 minute show.

Furthermore, turning back on his commitment to accept public financing is even more telling.  I was at one time wavering who to vote for, but these two latest items have shifted me away from this once champion of hope.

Another thing that bothers me more and more is Barack Obama's constant use of the word "Look".  Everytime he says that, I feel like he is saying "Are you blind."  All I can say is I am disappointed and now certain I am going to vote McCain.  This is just my view and I am reminded of an old adage...Hope is not a method.  Character is.

This is an interesting election and I have tried to keep a level head.  As a proud American I want what is best for our future as a nation.  I have listened, watched and researched both candidates extensively.  Now I have made my decision who to vote for.  It was not easy but now I am convinced that I have made the right decision.

Here is what I am thinking.  Senator McCain is an elder statesman.  He has served our nation in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.  He faced trials and pain I could never imagine and with honor and humility he stared down his adveraries.

Senator McCain is not flashy and I think this is why he does not get the flashy attention that Senator Obama gets from the media and why so many younger voters are attracted to Senator Obama.  What Senator McCain does have is a foundation.  He has the wisdom that can only come from having been there.  He walks the walk.  And as he says he has the scars to prove it.

Senator Obama is well spoken and articulate.  He is charismatic and seems to say the right things in list formats which makes him a good debater.  But what we need in our leaders are not good debaters but good statesman who can have a dialogue.  Who can see things with wisdom.

We talk about change.  Those who support Senator Obama talk about how he can bring us the change we need.  Even our good friend General Powell endorsed him.  I can't help but ask myself what change has Senator Obama brought about?  I have looked and I cannot find anything that reflects the accolades we are giving him.

I have come to some pretty solid conclusions.  The brevity of my writing here is not a reflection of the time it has taken me.  I have realized that Senator McCain is the President we need.  Of all the presidents in our history, Senator McCain and George Washington are the only two that I can say without a doubt deserved to be President of this great nation.  I use the term Deserved not as a righteousness but as what this country needs and how these two leaders were shaped.

Mountain ranges with all their grandeur and strength are shaped over millions of years.  Facing the elements.  Great leaders are shaped in the same way.  They are not shaped by excitement or media hype or all that is behind the political campaigning of the internet and 21st century.

Senator Obama may be a great leader.  If he is a great leader, he should be humble enough to hone his leadership before stepping up to perhaps the most important role in the wolrd.  Great leaders are humble, great leaders are great to their foundation, great leaders are servants of those who follow them.  Amongst the two great men running for president, there is only one great leader today and one that will one day be great.

It is with certainty that I say the great leader we need now is Senator John McCain.  On election day, I will vote for him, not for myself, but for what this country deserves.  Maybe four or eight  years from now I will vote for Senator Obama, but this is not the time.

I have come to a realization that if we pass on Senator McCain, we will pass on one of the few great statesmen of our time who has been shaped by happenstance perhaps to lead us.

God Bless America and both these great men.
